Question: I've wrote my own experiment Chromatography and I will evaluate, in the conditions, how to improve and, perhaps?what works well has. Here is my method: Method 1) Add a small amount of propanone in the mortar. Place a handful of nettle leaves in the mortar 2) Grind the nettles in propanone and a moderate amount of pigmented solution 3) Use the filter paper in the beaker, filter the solution in one. 4) Take a piece of paper for chromatography and draw a line from a 10mm ends. Mark a dot in the middle of the line here is the pigment. 5) Use the pipette solution to extract a sample of the drawn and then a drop on the spot as before. Let the drop dry, and then place a second small drop in the first. Repeat this process 5 times to build a concentrated pigment in the small area. 6) During the preparation of the pigment-spot, pour the solvent into the boiling tube into a Depth of not more than 15mm. 7) Fold the opposite end of the paper for chromatography and sets in the paper chromatography boiling tube.
Answer: A good overview. If you have local solvent to a depth of 15 mm, you need to have your set higher, because you want it to be the solvent to be above the level. You should be near the end of the boiling tube with a plug or some sort of film. You should then leave the experiment standing in one place without a draft and if possible a fairly constant temperature. Experiment would improve enormously if you ran a parallel experiment with ethanol as solvent, to see whether this difference was not. Good luck.
