Question: I am writing a series of short stories about people with special abilities. Any suggestions?I've been playing around with the idea for a couple of years, but I did not want it like an "X-Men Sound" swindle. Then when I finally started to get it going, "Heroes" became popular and everything I wrote, the show sounded like. Does anyone have any suggestions for items I can add to my stories about people with special abilities, do not turn into a carbon copy of the "X-Men" or "Heroes"?
Answer: No magic schools / organizations there is, just about magic schools / organizations. No anti-mutant society full of people who would be embarrassed David Duke. No random grouping of magical powers (You must magnetism! You can control the weather! You can read minds!) Instead, they do have a specific reason to link up that not only in its powers be educated. No high-spirited children, need to take to control their powers. Give your character real life - real concerns. Do I have a wife and children? If another have to pay bills? Many superhero stories neglect the "real life" aspect. Take the situation is unique - not just anywhere, USA. Select a specific city with character - and bind your characters in this city. Ie, Albuquerque would have a hero from a Navajo legend of New Orleans would have a Cajun voudoun mystics, can Boston, a sailor who can control the weather, so on and so forth. More per X-Men, no heroes, as a kind of nifty Sylar: No Villains who explain their motives and grudges have at last for the heroes, because their parents died mutancy / she does not like little people / whatever. An example of a bad villain: It's a funny vid Magneto circulating on YouTube, where he complained to some poor gas station attendant who bothers to try to sell it to gas ( "no question of Magneto!") And then a sign destroyed because no parking "offended very sight of this sign Magneto! And what bothers magnetosphere must be destroyed!" ... yeah, do not do that.
