Answer not buy the small bottles with liquid watercolor. . . You will not always do enough pigment to deep, intense colors, if you want tubes. Grumbach, the Academy of are your best bet. Make sure you buy good wash brushes, a round # 8 and 1 "Flat Brush, either synthetic or sable. Cheap Hair Brush and not hold their shape well. And buy decent work can be hard as the cheaper paper to paint on. If I could only afford three pipes of watercolor and I Winsor Newton Antwerp Blue, Permanent Rose would buy, and Daniel Smith's New gamboge. . . these three primary colors mix to create the full range the colors, and make mess! Three tubes of paint would take a long, long time. I express my pipes in a muted color palette and let it dry, add water with a small spray bottle if I need to wet it for use. the last a long time in this way and are getting ready to go. Also you have less than waste if they were freshly every time you use color. The tubes can be closed, dry, the contents squeezed out before that happens also saves a lot of headaches.
