Question: Why are my Acrylic Painting look so elementary? Its like looking for property ... hard to explain?

As with Acrylic Paint in this picture it looks so real: http://www.williampowell-artist.com/PageMill_Resources/image93.gif but my painting looks as flat or something, I buy my paint from Walmart and plus in the painting on regular typing paper .... thats extra thick for typing could do something about it? In the condition, I need to know how to draw good before I paint right? I can pretty well but I cannot pull my color to look good, it always looks so childish.
